Japanese Box Office, October 11–12: 20th Stays at #7 (Updated)

Gekijōban Saraba Kamen Rider Den-O Final Countdown, the third movie based on live-action special-effects series Kamen Rider Den-O, stayed at #2 in Japan during its second weekend, the October 4–5 weekend. Paco and the Magical Book, the surreal live-action fantasy film that reunites director Tetsuya Nakashima, actress Anna Tsuchiya, and other key players from the Kamikaze Girls film, also stayed at #4 in its fifth weekend. The first segment of Yukihiko Tsutsumi's three-part adaptation of Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys manga maintained its position at #7 in its seventh weekend.
Tomoyuki Takimoto's live-action version of Motorō Mase's Ikigami: The Ultmate Limit suspense manga (pictured at right) held steady at #8 in its third weekend. Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, Hayao Miyazaki's first feature film in nearly four years, leveled out at #9 in its 13th weekend. As of October 13, it has earned 14.7 billion yen (about US$143 million). Daikessen! Super Ultra 8 Kyōdai, Takeshi Yagi's newest entry in the Ultraman franchise, fell from #10 off the chart in its fifth weekend.
