My Hero Academia Original Anime DVD's Promo Video Teases Zombie Attack
posted on by Egan Loo
The official website for the anime of Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga posted on Sunday a promotional video and key visual for the original anime DVD bundled with the 14th manga volume. The video and visual tease a "heroes vs zombies" theme:
The 25-minute "Training of the Dead" anime centers on a joint practice session between Izuku's class and the other hero department students at U.A. Academy. Tsuyu reunites with her middle school friend Habuko Mongoose, but a mysterious gas with an apparent "zombie virus" turns some of the characters into the undead.
The characters and cast members include:
Habuko Mongoose, Tsuyu's friend, voiced by Maaya Uchida
Romero Fujimi, voiced by Ryōhei Kimura
Kashiko Sekigai

Horikoshi is himself in charge of the original story for the anime, and My Hero Academia TV anime scriptwriter Yousuke Kuroda is writing the script. The episode is titled "Training of the Dead," and Horikoshi is also drawing new character designs for new characters who will appear in the anime. The television anime's official website revealed the OVA's character designs in January.
The manga's 13th compiled book volume will also bundle an anime when it ships on April 4. The original event anime debuted at the Jump Special Anime Festa event in November, and it links the first season of the anime with the upcoming second season.
The anime's first season of 13 episodes premiered on the MBS/TBS channel on April 3. Funimation streamed the series in Japanese with English subtitles in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland as it aired in Japan. The company also streamed a broadcast dub.
The second season airs on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. on the NTV (Nippon TV) and YTV (Yomiuri TV) channels beginning on March 25 with an episode recapping the first season. The new season covers the U.A. Sports Festival arc of Kōhei Horikoshi's original manga. Crunchyroll and Hulu are streaming the season with English subtitles starting on April 1, while the FunimationNow service will stream the English dub.
Horikoshi launched the superhero manga series in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2014, and Shueisha published the 12th volume on February 3. Viz Media is publishing the manga digitally in its Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and in print.
